Just as I was about to give up on the whole thing, I started googling. I found the GC AI forum. I literally spent the entire night reading all of the old posts. I started to feel better, because I learned how long the process was for many here. Ironically, I read some of the stories from people who are now opposing this very forum!

Since there were no AIs from my GLO here, one of the AI's on this forum put me in touch with a member of my GLO here on GC who got the ball rolling again for me. Since, as I mentioned before, AI is extremely rare in my organization, a "random" member of my GLO on GC wouldn't necessarily be able to help me... remember.. my own Alumnae Chapter had tried to find out, but wasn't able to get answers. The person I met on the AI forum was able to point me to a person who was knowlegable about the process. It was this very person who knew who to call to find out what the hold up was.

To sum it up.. this forum is definately the reason I am in my GLO today. Had the AI forum not come up on my search, I wouldn't have found the people who helped me. Had I not read the story of others here, I would have mistakenly assumed it was never going to happen, and I would never have PMed anyone to help me find out where the snag was.

(edited for typo)
YOU READ STORIES of other people's AI.... they weren't on here asking for help. If you have to go to people you don't know and have met on the internet for help with your bid or whatever they call it, that's pretty sad. We all (or should all) know that someone we meet on the internet isn't always who they really are. Sad. Very sad.

Maybe I am taking this all too far, but I want to suggested that we all need to be very careful about calling people's membership or an org's membership selection into question....as I feel the post above, and others re: OTW have done. I know these discussions can be heated, but questioning the integrity of an organization and/or its members based on one situation is really not appropriate or helpful.

Wait!! Don't do that!! You've criticized her, therefore you violated the TOS. You will be reported.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. It seemed to easy.

I agree, although I don't think that PM_Mama was doing so in quite the same way as the other poster. Once you do so, you might as well stop listening to everyone else because you don't know if anything they say is true.

Well aren't you SWEET.

LOL. Blueangel set herself up for that one.

It's one thing to say that it is helpful that a particular forum was available for info and that she was able to meet people that way--something I still wouldn't suggest aspirants to do since I think aspirants shouldn't come to GLO message boards anyway. However, it's another thing to credit a forum with your membership and say that you wouldn't have been an XYZ had it not been for the forum. Maybe it wasn't the actual forum at all but the knowledge, that you may've found elsewhere if you knew how/where to look, and your ability to reach out to members.

Well, blueangel credited one "situation" for her membership so why is it inappropriate to question someone based on the one "situation" they credit?

We alluded to this about 20 pages ago.

/Now it's a filibuster

I insisted on knowing nothing, you just wanted to smear her.

I'd be interested to know how a new GC member, non-greek would have so many inside resources... hmmm.. too bad they let banned members re-register.
And check your sources next time.
Who said anything about so-many inside sources? Have you ever heard of a search function on GC? This message board program is used on many message boards on the internet and you are sitting there and acting like I've never been to a school where there was a Greek System, and I have never been told anything about the process. You have no idea of what my past experience has been like or who or how I got my information.

I wasn't a member of a sorority in college, but I was a little sister to a Fraternity.

Honey, I am not sure where this identity thing is coming in, but you don't know who I am any more than I know you or anyone else is on this board for that matter. I have never been banned from this board or any other message board, for that matter.

So, I am very, very sorry that in a lame effort to increase what little self-esteem that you seem to have left, that an internet message board is apparently, your only contact with the outside world.

I just love people that have "internet balls" in order to make up for the fact they are a doormat in real life.

Poke yourself with a fork because I am DONE with you!

Please show me one sorority website who has a "recommendation for alum initiation" or similar form online and available to the public? Or do you have access to the sisters-only information on these websites?

I wouldn't mention this; most if not all NPC organizations frown upon "little sister" relationships with men's organizations.

Exactly!

And, using that as a bragging point doesn't make you appear well-versed in Greek Life; actually, it just appears as sad.
