LOL @ the 2004 comments in this thread. Now people see that this isn't just another awards show. It's an honors and it's OFF DA HOOK!!! Much props to whomever basically said "why is anyone above Rakim?" That's right...recognize the G.O.A.T.!!!

I'm excited about this year, too. MC Lyte is going to rip it. I still have all 3 verses of "Cha Cha Cha" memorized.

You can cha cha cha to this mardi gras, I'm the dopest female that you heard thus far
And I do get better, my voice gets wetter, nobody gets hurt (DJ: as long as you let her).
Do my thing, with an '89 swing, the dopeness I write a guaranteed delight.
To the hip hop maniac, the uptown braniac, in full effect MC Lyte is back...

and ya don't stop...

That is my favorite, runner up... paper thin. I wish I would have just bought the damn tickets to the show.

I think they should just do a Hip Hop honor to the whole Roxanne phenomenon. The Roxanne years were hype. It could be a whole set with UTFO, Roxanne Shante, The Real Roxanne. That would be live!

Where in Queens?

Did anyone else know that Roxanne is a therapist, not living too far from where she grew up?

I've seen her in the Cambria Heights area..... she used to hang at this spot called The Manhattan Proper.

I saw something on VH1 about their beef or how it wasn't a beef on the UTFO end.

Nah. Roxanne Shante was the only one with skills.

Plus, I can't see them refursacing a huge rivalry (the Roxannes) like that. Oh yeah, Roxanne Shante is some kind of therapist now, too, so she shows up for some of these events/hip hop reunions but has yet to perform at them. 106 and Park had some type of ol skool reunion years ago and she reluctantly came on stage but just waved.

I saw that. It was a publicity-type beef, if anything.

she's above mediocre as a rapper. her record " It's Tee Time" was actually good.
