It does seem that I don't read as much about sorority hazing.
ETA: I do remember one girl in school that said she pledged a sorority there but dropped out. Something about yelling at her and blowing a whistle in her ear.

With the three week initiation requirement, I have to wonder what this univeristy would consider "hazing' to be.
It might just turn out that they're casting a ridiculously wide net as to the definition of the term.
The three week requirement cautions me to not believe that this university is at all reasonable when dealing with GLOs.

I do but let's pretend that you don't.
Does what you read reflect reality? There are tons of things that you probably overlook that are reported on GC and other places where hazing stories are reported. There are tons of things that don't get detected or reported to us.

Hey all, Tom was being sarcastic with his post.
It just goes to show that shortened pledge periods are BS - if a GLO really wants to haze, they'll get it in quickly.
However, this sounds more like a helicopter mommy being upset because her daughter is finally getting a life.
Lafayette is a classic case of party school trying to become PC and failing miserably. We have many of those in our fair state.

Does this mean our Alpha Chapter will never be allowed to come back?
Will this hurt Alpha Phi Omega's chances of getting reactivated Alpha Chapter in the future (ie create/intensify a distrust by Lafayette's administration of GLOs in general)?
Just curious

Maybe they don't have a problem with service organizations as long as they behave as service organizations should.

If they have a stupid Greek advisor that lumps all fraternities together as being the same, I would say yes.

Update: Pi Beta Phi HQ Puts Lafayette Chapter on Probation
http://www.nj.com/news/expresstimes/...830.xml&coll=2
Excerpt from October 12 '06 article:
[Pi Beta Phi's chapter at Lafayette] has been placed on probation by its national council, according to a news release from the sorority president.
"Hazing is illegal and will not be tolerated," Pi Beta Phi Fraternity President Emily Tarr said in a news release. "The chapter has been placed on probation, which provides them with the highest level of fraternity support.
Diane Balogh, director of communications for the sorority headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., said she could not release details of the alleged hazing incident.
"There are requirements that this chapter will need to fulfill to get back in good standing," she said. "But I can't talk about what those are without going into details. We're working with the college so we know what we need to do to get into compliance."
"As far as the probation and what that means, it's really tailored to the individual chapter. I can't go into that because it is an internal matter," she said. "What I can tell you is that our highest members, the members of our grand council, will be working one on one with the chapter to resolve these issues."
Balogh added that Lafayette could place sanctions on the sorority, but a college spokesman was unavailable for comment Wednesday. . . .

Thank you for being one who can see sarcasim at its finest!
Yes, women can be very spiteful in the worst way.
But anyone who would be so ignorant to put up with some of the more physical and mental hazing is well, not to bright.
