Please don't. You're just going to start drama. There does not need to be a list of which GLOs accept graduate students, and which do not. You're going to run into "Well, XYZ State U does, but XYZ at U of State has chapter bylaws against it and ABC does, but only in special circumstances...etc...". Get the information for yourself, and rush if you want to, but leave the posting of GLO policy to the GLO members on this board (if THEY even want to post it).

She can certainly post a list, but it would probably be wise to add a qualifier which says something to the effect "While there is nothing against the national by-laws of graduate students participating in recruitment in the following list of GLO's, some individual chapters may not allow it. Further, some colleges and universities may prohibit all grad students from participating in recruitment."

Let me be clearer: I don't want my GLO on a list either way. Whether we allow Grad students or not does not need to be posted on GC. I personally know whether we do or do not allow Grad students to join, and if I wanted everyone else to know, I would post that info. Other GLO members here have openly posted things about Grad rush at their GLO, and that's fine, that's their business. It's not yours, scarleteriberry's, or anyone else's besides other members of my GLO's business to post whether we accept Grads or not. If 33 girl decides she wants to post the info, and other people quote her, I'm fine with that. But if someone from that GLO does not offer the info to begin with, I don't think it belongs on GC.

Whether some individual chapters "allow" it or not is their business- if it is in their public bylaws, fine, but it may be an internal policy. Or it may just be that that chapter doesn't want that particular grad student, which is their right to decide PRIVATELY.

Hey GC:

One of my sisters is a graduate student and a sister in my GLO. Here's how I see her experience:

She is one of the oldest girls in the group so she has learned certain life lessons that the other sisters haven't- i.e. how to budget etc etc. Because she is one of the "newer girls", she has to be careful how she challenges things because the sisters who have been in the sorority easily get defensive if she gets too vocal. She also has more focus on work, classes are harder so sometimes the sisters don't understand why she can't stay out till 4am all the time or come to every event. She can't always put the sorority first and on occasions it frustrates the other sisters.

On the other hand, its good for her cos she takes life too seriously. The sorority keeps her fun side alive and helps her maintain balance between being a grown up and being a collegiate.

Having met her I understand why NPC doesn't often invite graduate students into their chapters- there is a huge difference from UG's and Grad's and that can definitely cause conflict. However, I wish some of the other groups hadn't cut her so quickly. If they would have given her a chance, they would have seen what a great addition she could be for the sorority. In conclusion, maybe the best way to get graduate students involved is through CR. Rush isn't long enough for sororities to really understand why a grad would want to join a sorority. If the grad tried the CR approach she and the GLO might find the most ideal match.

That's great for her, and your chapter, but it wouldn't work everywhere.
