I grew up in Columbus but I'm not an Ohio State fan. But, it seems like they're the Rodney Dangerfield of college football on GC this year.
In terms of missing personnel, the same thing was said about a missing player (was it the OSU QB? I don't remember) in last years win by Texas in Columbus. Nobody will ever know if either if those things would really have made a difference.
The fact is that they've beaten all of the teams that were supposed to give them an early on run for their money fairly decisively -- with this past weekend at Iowa being anticipated as their big test. Playing, and beating, three nationally ranked teams in the first four or five weeks is pretty impressive. Say that the other teams are weak if you will, but there has to be some reason for their standings.
Ohio State may not run the table -- and the Michigan game is always a toss up -- but I think the Buckeyes are for real and could end up national champions.

This could be the best Michigan v. Ohio State game in years. We're looking forward to it!

Absolutely on the mark. One of the best games in one of the biggest rivalry in college football history.

Perhaps it's my female perspective (not being as competitive in general), but I'm not sure I see why college teams have to have a national champion. Why can't there just be conference champions for each conference? Even the pro sports have "wildcards" in their playoffs and sometimes those wildcards win, even though they didn't have the best record. I'm not convinced that's a perfect system either (even though it allowed the Tigers to go to the World Series this year). Why does there have to be one national champ? Why can't the champs of each conference just be recognized as being excellent?
ETA: I thought the BCS standings were based on a statistical analysis of performance and wins and losses, so it's more objective and less subjective than Coach and AP ratings. Therefore, I don't see how "opinion" should affect the BCS championship game. If the two teams with the highest scores are in the same conference, then so be it.

Its just that when that second team in the conference loses to the team that is going to the National Championship outright......they shouldn't get rewarded for making it a close game and have a chance to play them again. Give someone else a shot, Florida/Arkansas Notre Dame/USC (God forbid). We know OSU is a better team than Michigan. To me, they will solidify their status as the best team if they can defeat a wide range of opponents.....not one that they already beat.

I'm almost hoping for a OSU-UM rematch, simply to bust the system open again. I hope for controversy every year. Nobody wants to see USC play again. Ever. Until the National Title game is on their home station of TBS, they shouldnt be in the title game.

Oh yeah, I totally agree........and I really don't know why they didn't play Troy Smith the entire game last year.....really odd to me as well.

i would just like to say
GO TIGERS!
Ok, now for a stupid footlball question, can someone explain to me how teams are choosen for bowl games and how early you can begin to narrow down what Bowl game your team will be playing in. I'd like to start saving money to go see my Tigers, if they have a chance in playing in one of the Bowl games near me.

Yeah, i'm gonna love having another stacked team that gets to play yall minus Adrian Peterson and a QB. There is no reason for AD to stay at OU next year.
I would warm up to the possibility of another string of wins by us in the Shootout......we are going to be really good for a long time.
