ha, I was being serious - I actually vomit on Blue Moon and Hoegaarden . . . I think it's the corriander taste more than anything, or possibly an allergy.

Well, I think it's a crappy beer made by a company run by people whose politics disgust me -- although I'm not sure that people outside the state would know much, if anything, but the Coors family. That said, if you like it, cool -- I just think there are much, much, much better options.

Heh. I had no idea Blue Moon was made by Coors. It's not my favorite beer in the world, but I do like it.
One of the local pizzerias just got a liquor license (beer & wine). They have a very limited selection, but they have Stella Artois, so I'm good

So turns out I have a solid liquor store in town; when I brought my order up to the register, the owner started telling me about the best breweries in the area. She also apologized for not having the Dogfish Head Pumpkin Ale in stock. Now that's an owner who knows her beer.
On another note, Dogfish Head Chicory Ale is AWESOME.
Aephialum, I hear you on the local pizza joints. The one closest to me only had Bud and Bud Light, but recently started serving Sam Adams. I'm a fan of this latest development (especially it's one of only two restaurants in town that serves alcohol).

There's a brewery in Peoria where you can pay to go in and brew and bottle your own beer. Some guys from my husband's work went in together and brewed a batch of "Irish Red" and a batch of "Black Angus Stout." The stout was extremely good -- nice and smooth with a great coffee/chocolate taste. We blew through our stash in about a week. Last week we went to another friends' who still had a few bottles of the stout left. OMG I forgot how tasty that beer is.
The husband has been enjoying the Goose Island Oatmeal Stout lately. It's not bad, but I don't like it as well as some other stouts I've had.

Yuengling Black and Tan. But they don't distribute in Georgia. Bastards. I always pick up some when I drive to FL. My sorority little is coming to visit me this weekend. She lives in Tampa. She's going to be making a beer run for me.

Yes, that stuff is very good. They don't distribute to CT either (as far as I know), and they didn't distribute to Boston. At my old job I had a co-worker bring me back a couple of cases when she traveled to PA for a client meeting. I felt like I was in the Prohibition days, having a Canadian bring me whiskey over the border.

My friend in Boston is a big Yuengling fan...he got in touch with Yuengling once upon a time to see if they ever planned on distributing up there, and apparently they're looking to do it in the next 2 years or so. I think they recently bought a brewery up there or found one that would make their beer, or something. But allegedly it is on the horizon.

I might be moving back to Boston after law school - it would be great if they started serving it in Boston by the time I got back. They have three years to get their act together...

I almost think Yuengling is scared to death to get TOO well known and popular and distribute too many places...they have the example in front of them of what happened when California yuppies decided Rolling Rock was cool.
