I thought you needed SAG for TV. I thought Equity was only stage?
At any rate, DA, he's fine, trust me. I was 21 when I made my move, but I only knew the one person I was staying with. If I'd had a bunch of friends here already, I really would have been set.
I look forward to buying tickets to his first Boradway show!

I know that. I've lived there. It's just the last baby leaving the nest, you know?
Heck, he was a National Merit Scholar and has been away from home in college and summer theatre for the past four years. He's very capable.
Just another of life's passages.

Actually, potentially pretty good news.
He is settled in the place he's staying for the first six weeks.
He did his first auditions yesterday.
Urintown in the morning. Nada
West Side Story for an Eq House in Houston in the PM. CALLED BACK on Thursday.
Pretty good for his first NY day of auditioning.
Auditions for Hairspray on Thursday.
He's also going to audition in NY for "Millie" which is playing in Denver over holidays -- rehearsals would start one day after West Side Story -- if he gets cast in either.
We're pleased.

Pretty good news today. He's been offered a job on a Holland America cruise ship for six months, with an extention to a year if he desires. It's not NY, but the cruise schedule for this ship is really good and he would get to see a lot of neat stuff.
Today and tomorrow, he's at Equity auditions in NY for a show here in Metro Denver over Christmas, and if he is cast, the cruise line will see if they can put him in the cast on a different ship with a contract that begins a month or so later.
That would be very cool, and getting cast in anything after being in the city for under a month is pretty good.
He's been called back for a number of parts, so we're encouraged.

OK. Decision time.
He's been called back twice for a show here in Colorado which is being cast in New York.
The cruise line can't put him on a later ship.
If he gets a lead here, he will have to decide on the lead here, or six months to a year's work on the ship.
Film at eleven...

When it rains, it pours! Good for him, choices are always better than endless auditions and portraying a member of the wait staff in a restaurant.

If he's the type that likes to travel and wants to, she might want to stick with the ship even if he does get the lead.
My two cents, not important in the end of course
I'm glad so many choices are opening up for him!

My opinion - go with the lead.
Especially since he's been having good luck with call backs at his recent auditions, it's just a matter of time before he really lands something solid. The more auditions you go on the better. He can't be auditioning if he's stuck on a ship.
Also, lets say 6 months from now he hasn't landed a solid show, he can always audition for another cruise line (they are auditioning constantly in NYC!) and get a paying gig then.
Good luck to him!
