I love the details

I didn't appreciate the way that writing a rush thread after the fact means that you can give so much more detail!

I'm enjoying this!

ok I'm sorry and not trying to be rude, but that sounded kind of like an oxymoron...you didn't like she gave more details, but you are enjoying the thread...maybe I just read it wrong and am slow tonight...thanks

sunday-theme day

on sunday afternoon, she attended three parties. all the houses showed videos of their past years accomplishments

first she attended alpha omicron pi. they had a christmas theme. they were dressed in red and green. she felt that she did not have as great a conversation with the girls she met, and she is a little unsure of her feelings now.

she then attended phi mu's party. they had a spa theme. she did not feel as connected as she had during the first party and felt that the conversation was a little stilted. maybe she was tired, or maybe she just didn't connect with the girl. i do know that my daughter usually can find something to talk about with almost anyone, so who knows???

lastly, she visited zta. once again they impressed her. their theme was picture yourself here. they had draped all the walls in black and had framed blownup photos of the members hung from the ceiling just a fraction away from the wall-all over the room. one frame was empty-so each pnm could picture themselves there.she liked their video-she learned that there are a lot of campus movers and shakers in this chapter. she liked that because she was just elected freshman class v.p., and would love some guidance from other sga members.

after the final party, the rho gamma group met and ranked the sororites for monday-preferentials.

it's all good. i realized what alphagamuga meant. she was saying that before now, she thought that posting a recruitment thread after the fact was sort of moot, or anticlimatic, but now she sees that a lot more detail can be shared, because it is all after the fact.

i had a hard time deciding whether to post during or after, but honestly, i am glad now that i waited. my daughter is quite the artist(although she is majoring in sports medicine) and has the artists eye-so i am able to share all this detail with you all. i could not have been so "indiscreet" otherwise!!

more to come.

Oh, I goofed

What I meant was "I didn't appreciate" it in the sense that I didn't understand and value it before.

I meant, Before reading this detailed rush thread, I didn't understand how awesome after-the-fact rush thread could be.

I always wanted people to write them as they were going through because I liked to see how the story unfolded right away.

But now, I can appreciate how the after-the-fact threads might be better.

Thank you, FSUZETA, for understanding what I meant! I didn't see that you had responded before I posted!

Ok thanks...I thought you meant the post in a positive way, but I just didn't read it that way...its been kind of a long day and wasn't thinking when I didn't eat anything since about 10 a.m. and then tried to workout at 6 p.m. so now I'm a little slow...

I like after the fact rush threads when they've been journaling them all along and just wait till after recruitment for whatever they might have.

preferentials: each sorority held three parties.

the pnms could attend a maximum of two pref parties. my daughter was fortunate to be able to attend two.

her first party was at a o pi. the girls were all in red dresses. she said that they all looked very nice. they had set up small tables(those round particle board tables with the screw on legs). they had white tablecloths on the tables with red overlays. each table had a single long stemmed red rose. in the middle of the table was a mini fish bowl shaped bowl which held some clear marbles and a single red rose, with the stem cut real short. they had white wooden folding chairs.she was preffed by a girl she had not met before-she was nice. they talked a while and then everyone gathered for the pref. ceremony.

she then had a break and attended the last party at zta. she said that the girls were dressed in long white dresses. the room was draped in white muslin and every few feet they had hung gold fabric that pooled onto the floor. they also had the little round tables with white table cloths and gold overlays. they had the same type of chair as a o pi(someone is birmingham was cleaning up on rentals!!) , but they used white slip covers on their chairs.
each table had a vase with white lilies in it. they had divided their room in half:the conversation area and the pref. ceremony area. she was preffed by the immediate past president, whom we had met last fall during senior preview weekend. she had given us a tour of the house and spent about two hours with us, introducing my daughter to members and showing us the house. we were very impressed with this young lady at the time, and my daughter said that she was just as impressive tonight. the zta was assisted by a sophomore who my daughter really liked. she said that should she get a bid from zta, she might like this girl as her big sister. they had a good conversation and then it was time for the ceremony.

she said that the pnms sat in chairs that formed a semi-circle. the members stood against the perimeter of the room and each held a candle.there were several of the small tables with white tablecloths in the front of the room. on the tables were single candles and lilies. the ceremony began with a quartet singing a zeta song. she said that they were very good. then some of the speakers spoke. then a soloist sang 'feels like home" and was accompanied on the violin by the ex-pres. and by a girl playing the piano. she said that it was outstanding. at one point in the ceremony one of the speakers took her lit candle and lit one the the members candles who then lit her neighbors until everyones candle was lit.

after this party, the rho gamma group ranked their choices.

bid day is tonight.
