No matter how old your "traditions" are in your org, it will always seem to others that your org simply saw things that other folks were doing and said "that looks cool, lets do it too!" (We copy no one. I've seen NPHC orgs copy us actually on many occasions.). I've attended 2 PWI's (Good for you!!!!!  ) and visited many others, and I've never seen those chapters with handsigns, calls, line names, etc. But mysteriously, chapters at HBCUs want to imitate what they see D9 orgs do. I don't know if its a case of "I didn't make line for XYZ so I'll take the next best thing" (Are you serious? LOL Girl, you need to stop.  )or you simply want to fit in with everyone else.
