I am from the South. Lived here forever. I went to undergrad at a large conservative PWI Southern university. I have close friends in NPHC, IFC, and NPC sororities and fraternities. I have NEVER heard anyone, jokingly or seriously, use the word "sorostitute" IRL. I find the word offensive and it amazes me that it is a term that people would use regularly, especially sorority women.
|
I don't know what IRL means.
Thanks. Sorry you've never heard the term.

IRL = in real life.
Sorostitute is more offensive, in my opinion, than "frat boy".

Yet the troops didn't swarm in on this one like they do whenever someone types "frat" or "frat boy" on here.

I go to a Southern School with a major greek presence and I have never heard any man or woman on campus refer to a sorority woman in such a rude manner.

Calling someone a sorostitute is basically calling them a slut. Using the term "frat boy" doesn't have any obvious meanings like that. I mean, how would you feel if someone called you a "frapist"?
Yes I just made that up

If I wanted to call someone a slut, I would call them a slut.
I dunno...I hear this (sorostitute) all the time down here, at UGA, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, etc. etc. etc. No one takes offense to it...or even has the notion that we are effectively calling them sluts/whores/etc. Its a joke....much like calling a fraterntiy member a frat boy/fratdaddy/etc.
I'm sorry it offends all of you soooooooooo much. Maybe you all should lighten up.

Well, lady, I'm talking about something that can't be obtained from a dictionary.
Maybe your institution of higher learning limits knowledge to dictionaries and encyclopedias. Demand a refund.

Look here, lady: I don't think anyone is typing from the ledge of a building.
Some of us just don't find the "joke" funny or remotely cute.

I don't know what you are talking about.....
You said it was wrong of me to use the terms "guys" when referring to a group of people.
Its not wrong. At all. You're being an idiot.
It seems the only one that is showing a lack of knowledge on this is you.
