Yay for a UW thread! I didn't go there, but I live close by. I have to root for the lilies, since that's my name :-) I can't wait to hear more- good luck & have fun!

Guess you'll have to root for Iris since Lily is out of the running!

I realize that some sororities don't name their chapters in order of the greek alphabet but I realize that many of the do. I am very very impressed at the amount of UW sororities with one letter chapter names (kappa; epsilon etc) which in my mind means they have been on campus for many many years and that it was one of the sororities first chapters installed. I know that may be an incorrect assumption on my part but I'm still impressed by that.

And realizing by the pictures I have seen on the greek web site that washington state is absolutely gorgeous.

Some sororities start a new greek alphabet chapter for each state, so they may have 4 Alpha chapters. I'm sure someone can say which do which. Delta Gamma doesn't do it this way; each chapter goes in order regardless of location.

I gotta say it:
the photos of the houses do NOT do them justice. I drove through Greek Row a couple of months ago and they are really gorgeous

Yes, many of the UW chapters are some of the oldest in their organizations. I know our chapter there was established in I think 1903 or 1905.

What impresses me about UW's Greek houses is that not only the sororities have beautiful homes - most of the fraternities do, too! On a lot of campuses in the West, the sororities are nice but the fraternities leave a lot to be desired.
