Men that do this are not cry babies and are far from being soft. I grew up seeing my dad do these simple things for my mom and they've been married for 43 years. I dunno it's just how I was raised.

I think what starang is saying is women like their men strong, well I do anyway. I like a man who has a strong character and who can be my rock. I don't want a man who's scared to say something to the next man if he disrespects me. I want a man who will stand up for his family. In other words, I don't want a punk. I want strength and courage. That doesn't mean I want a man that beats me, but I want to feel protected by my man. Although I can't spreak for all women, I think that's what many women want in a man. Not saying that women don't also want sensitivity and understanding from their man, but I think some women like more of that and some like a little less. It just depends on the woman.

I feel ya. If I were a woman, I wouldn't want a punk either. But why do you think because a guy treats his woman with the upmost respect makes him weak, as if he's soft and won't protect his woman, household and family?

I don't think that. I think you can be an upmost gentleman and still not be a punk. I'm just not a very romantic person most of the time, so I don't need the car doors opened for me or candlelight dinners or flowers. I'm just happy with the plain old person being themselves. Renting movies and eating Doritos would make me just as happy, probably happier, because we're in the comfort of our own home. I don't like a big fuss. That's just the way I am though, a Plain Jane. lol

I don't think opening doors for women is being romantic. I feel ya, I'm not romantic either, never have been and I never will be, but I was just raised to open doors for women. As far as the candle light dinners, oh hell no. That's not me. I'm more like lets go get a Happy Meal and Mickie Ds and call it a day.
I really don't think opening a door for a lady is romantic though. I open doors for all women. If she's 90 yrs old, I'll do the same, but I damn sure am NOT going to get fresh amd romantic with a 90 yr old woman because I opened the door for her.

My co-worker freaked out a few weeks ago because she was on an elevator and the men on the elevator got off before her. She said that in the south, men open doors for women, and wait for them to get off the elevator first, because that's how it's done. I was at her freaking out so bad about not getting off the elevator first.
