No regrets.
For me, the best part of being associated with a BGLO (and Alpha) in particular, is the fact that I am connected with a great bond of brotherhood that has an incredible legacy. I have met MANY famous/notable men in a casual setting, I have talked with people who were very close to Bro. Martin Luther King, and I have developed as a human being through the mentoring and the community examples of Alpha Phi Alpha.
Also, I have met many men who would otherwise be strangers (just another black face), and through our association in the frat., we have become lifelong friends. Also, the comfort of knowing that where ever I am in this country (and many parts of the world), I have a "brother" there that I can communicate with. Believe me, I have done this a thousand times.
I remember one day walking down the street in another part of the country and seeing a guy walking down the street with an A-PHI-A shirt on. I approach him, talk to him, grip him, etc. The next thing I know, he is inviting me to his house for dinner and I meet his wife and kids. I have many accounts similar to that.
I think that our most noted poem, "The House of Alpha" states it best: "Men, unaquainted, enter, shake hands, exchange greetings and depart friends........I am the College of friendship, the University of brotherly love, the School for the better making of men. I am, Alpha Phi Alpha!
