Kinda yeah. My reason for not joining a black fraternity is not because of how they are here, I just don't know that I'd really feel comfortable with a group so different from me. But if those guys probably have a lot in common with their brothers, so its completely normal for them.

Just seems like guys trying to be something they are not, I bet they try to speak and dress like black people too. We have a name for guys like that...

If I went in trying to join my org putting on some kind of a show, trying to put on some kind of act of stereotypical-black-wannabe or whatever, I can assure you I wouldn't have made it on line

In my chapter, we all may have our faults, but one thing I can guarantee is that we are all some *genuine* women. Every Delta I've ever met is - which is one of the reasons I was drawn to the sorority, the members really impressed me with those kinds of qualities. The only blanket statements you could make about the BGLO members (of all orgs) that I have met are that we are all smart, hard-working people who have a lot of pride in our orgs. We definitely do not all talk, dress, or otherwise act the same, just as members of NPC/IFC orgs do not.

Well, apparently you of half brain status knows what that means. What does a black person dress like? Please enlighten us full brained people so that we may know this information too. Is that Urban Dress? Casual? Brightly colored clothing? Flashy? Subdued? I wear the same clothes my white friends wear. I shop at JCPenney, Macy's and other major department stores and there is not a black, white, asian or hispanic section there. I have seen Urban Sections at JCPenney (where I work part-time), but guess who shops there mostly? Hispanics!!

I believe the discussion was based on what is considered popular black clothing. Sorry, but blacks you see popularized on TV and in the media dress quite different than the average white, Southern fraternity man. That is what most of the posting was concerning a few pages back. That and the picture that was posted of the black guys.

Just because you have an opinion based on a personal experience doesn't mean it is the way it is. Urban clothing was popularized by black people.....I don't think anyone is going to refute that.

Which is exactly what your comment is, a comment or observation based on your personal experience. Urban clothin is indigenous to those who live in urban areas, which can be any race. Hip Hop clothing on the other hand was worn by African-American and Latino members of the hip hop culture (and some white advocates) and has been popularized and worn by those mainstream people. Doesn't matter what you wear, it's what's in your head that counts.
