Ok, so reading on Slate.com
.12 = 5-6 drinks for each hour assuming that he's a normal drinker. As he has said that he's fighting alcoholism, it takes even more drinks to get up to that level.
While I'm sure some here have surpassed that consumption, he wasn't exactly sipping club soda.

With all of the other stuff going on in the world, is it really wrong of me to find it really hard to care whether an actor/director -- even a big deal like this one -- is an alleged anti-semite semi-alcoholic?
It just doesn't seem that important.

I don't think it's the most important thing going on in the world by a long shot, but if someone is making movies and (theoretically) influencing people with those movies then I think his racist and misogynistic statements are a problem.

Haha, I don't think any of us are saying that it's an earth-shattering event. However, it's mildly interesting, so why not talk about it?

Absolutely.
Especially when you make a movie about Jesus and become holier than thou and make snearing comments judging others for drinking and having sex.
Maybe Mel should turn that nice church he built in Malibu into a rehab clinic.
