I am not sure about ASA, but some groups will let you 'upgrade' your badge. That may be something you'd consider doing to celebrate your 10th, 20th, or50th ASA-aversary.

One of our advisors upgraded when she visited HQ. She paid the difference between the plain & the jeweled, and I believe she got to keep her plain one, or she could donate it.

Thanks, everyone!
I would like to upgrade in the future. For now, I'm pleased as punch Now I just need to get initiated. No, the date hasn't been set yet.

Yippee!! I remember how excited I was when I got my badge. It was some time after I was initiated, though. I wore my sponsor's badge in the meantime.

It IS exciting when you get your badge. I was so happy when I got mine.
It's kind of interesting that ASA lets you order a badge prior to initiation. I wore the badge of one of my Tri Delta sponsors (the woman who guided me through the initiation ceremony) until I received mine.
Congratulations!

It also probably depends on the organization. ri-Delta puts the chapter and member number on the back of your badge, which before fall recruitment you wouldn't know what your member number would be.

In a way it's kind of nice to have everything ready ahead of time.

That's not necessarily true. I waited a long, long, long time to be initiated after the paperwork was in and approved-- and I didn't get my badge for about four to six months AFTER being initiated. Burr, Patterson and Auld had a hold on my badge because in ZTA, no badges are released until they have your initiation number. Each GLO is different.
ZTA also doesn't have "sponsors"-- so I was badgeless until my number was finally sent to the jewelry company. But.. it was so worth waiting for!
So happy for you, LouisaMay! Don't worry about not getting a fancy badge.. it's not the badge, but what it stands for! It will become even more beautiful once you're initiated and learn what everything means in ASA!
Congrats!
