writers don't have that much input really

i could buy a scirpt and change everything, characters names, what happens to them, etc. Sometimes this happens just because some one likes the title.

This is true, last week Lady, Clerks 2, My Super Ex Girlfriend, and.. something else.. all came out and I'd like to eventually see all of them....

But why bother crediting a writer's name as a writer if a director changes every single thing? If this happened to any script I wrote, I wouldn't want to be credited as a writer (maybe "based on an idea by Taualumna" but certainly not a writer!) I guess I have to be careful who I sell my soon-to-be-published novel to!

I saw Lady in the Water on Friday. My husband and I loved it, and we talked about it the whole way home. However, our fellow audience members didn't seem to feel the same way. People were complaining that it wasn't worth the money, time, etc.

If you are expecting to go see a horror film, save your money. If you are ready for an intelligently designed narrative with interesting cinematography and even a bit of wacky humor, go ahead and see the movie. This is NOT the Sixth Sense. It is NOT Signs. Except for the similarity in the way M. Night actually shoots his scenes, Lady in the Water is different than his previous films.

I saw it yesterday (YAY for $0.50 movies). I liked it, but I tend to like what the critics hate and hate what the critics like. It was pretty humorous, actually. I didn't have it figured out before things happened, because there was WAY too much to keep track of. Too many "roles" in the story to figure out who was who (although if I really wanted to concentrate, I probably could have figured it out, but I didn't feel like thinking that hard on my day off).
