Brother John,

I am certain that it is a family plot. It was referred to as "Horton Land." It was also mentioned that the site was at the estate or home of his mother's family. I would bet it is a family plot. But, perhaps a well known site because the Cole-Horton family was very important in the region.

By the way, I did find the Cole Family plot in Swansea and WAC was not buried at that site.

I did not make any rubbings of the headstone because, as you can well see, there are plants and lichen growing on the stone and it wouldn’t be right to disturb them.

I have decided to omit directions to the cemetery and any photograph of the access road. I do this after some degree of thought. As I surmised, this is a family cemetery, full of Hortons and Wheelers and Coles. Although apparently maintained by the village of Rehoboth, it is a historic cemetery and very small, perhaps one acre or so. The road up to the cemetery is not paved and appears very fragile. Although the fence is low, the gates are locked; the stone wall has loose stones. I don’t think that the cemetery could handle a group of visitors - there is no parking lot and there are neighbors.

If a group wanted to go out I would suggest contacting the folks on the Rehoboth town council and sharing the idea with them. They may have some concerns regarding the number of visitors. I’m not trying to prevent anyone from going and privately I’ll share the information, but the place just isn’t set up for a massive number of visitors.

Wonderful job! You did some great detective work to find the right place. Now...be honest... did you get just a little bit of a chill when your eyes first settled on the name "Warren", and you knew you had found it?

This is not what I expected when I read "family estate." In addition to looking much different from 1968 vintage headstones in my area, it looks sort of shabby and forlorn. How long do you think it had been since anyone visited Brother Cole's grave?

Yes, gravestones in the New England area don't look new for very long, especially Cole's considering how close he is to the ocean.

I sent a couple of photos off to Biff Holloway. I imagine that they'll make their way around the building. Your comment has caused me to send a copy of the "revelation e-mail" off to Biff as well. Someone else ought to have a copy of the treasure map.

Should anyone want to pay Warren a visit I'll be happy to share the directions but I am afraid that someone may get some harebrained idea to go out and do something at the cemetery late some night and that would be exactly THE WORST THING that anyone could do. Call me overly cautious but I came up during the hazing years and as a alumnus I've seen way too many strange things go on inthe name of pre-initiation activities.

Mailed Karen at Christ Church thanking again for Her aid in helping us.

She also stated that She went back to College ReUnion at Colby where She met a fellow class mate who was a LXA from there.

I beleive Colby is closed.

She passed along what We were trying to do. He thought is was fantastic.

Mike when You write the C & C, it might be nice to mention the Brothers and Karen Remaine who were instrumental in getting The Mystery Solved!
