In an Ana Lucia flashback Jack's dad was at a house screaming at a woman about wanting to see his daughter. Claire is the only Australian on the island. Or the only one that we know and care about. Therefore, everyone believes Claire is Jack's half sister.

I was unimpressed with the finale. Last season was way better. I'm not sure if I'll even care when the third season premieres.
