Time management is key.
I second the planner advice.
And make sure that you can commit to whatever activity it is that you sign up for with whatever organization is sponsoring it. You don't want to be flaking on xyz because you forgot that you committed to abc already.
Also keep in mind that school is the priority because were it not for school, you wouldn't have these other opportunities so give school its due.
And I reiterate, time management is key.
