Mr. Prayerfull wants to purchase a motorcycle. I'm not really feeling that too much, but after paying $78.00 this morning to fill up the Tahoe, I might just have to give in on this one.

I am in Chicago and the gas prices are damn near $3.00!!!!! It now takes 27.00 to fill my tank from EMPTY. When I first got it, it only took $10.00!!!! I know it's not as bad as you guys with SUV's but this is ruining my plans to get my JAG!!! I am really thinking otherwise!

^^^Girl, if you are anywhere near the Loop, gas is already past a dollar. I work downtown now and will ONLY take the EL---park and ride for me, baby!
Hint--gas is cheapest on Tuesdays and Wednesday mornings because tha's when people least fill up their tanks. At least, according to my mother.
ETA--BTW, I found gas for $2.70 (where I live--North Shore) and was damn near about to cry I was so excited!!!

Ri-dayum-diculous. I didn't see it over $3.05 yet, but I know you're telling the truth. Me and the Red Line are going to be great friends.
On a positive note--with all the walking I will be doing, I will be closer to my ideal weight by the time of Boule!!

I'm in Chicago too. I HATE it that we have a gas tax. By me its 2.99 to 3.05 in the burbs. I had to redue my whole budget due to gas prices. Then they are saying gas could go up to 4.00 here. Well, I will be riding the bus.

It's about $3.19 for premium, can't complain too much, almost $20.00 will fill me up, has anyone heard about possible gas shortages in the Philadelphia, Delaware areas? this was on the news this past Friday! I saw Bush in California in the paper looking at possible alternative fuel systems-We Americans do not like to give up our automobiles!

I'm in the suburbs of Chicago and gas prices are beyond ridiculous here, I agree!
I am so glad I can take public transit to and from work. Pace, Metra, and the CTA are my three best friends during the week.

Gas alternative
Full story
Running on cooking oil
Grease could replace gasoline
By DANIA AKKAD
Herald Salinas Bureau
DAVID ROYAL/The Herald
Daniel Fernandez, left, and Swarup Wood converted their Mercedes to run on used cooking oil. A Mercedes cruising around the Peninsula is hardly noteworthy.
Most of them, of course, don't smell like lunch.
Running in front of CSUMB's Chapman Science Center on a warm Tuesday afternoon, the exhaust puttering out of associate chemistry professor Swarup Wood's 1984 Mercedes smells like beef patties sizzling on a hot grill.
Nine months ago, Wood and his neighbor, associate physics professor Dan Fernandez, bought kits from a company in Maryland to reconstruct their cars' engines. With shipping, the kits cost $850. It took a weekend of dawn-to-dusk tinkering. Not an easy task, mind you. But by Sunday, the pair had successfully set up their cars to run on grease -- and found a way to take control of their gas habit while gas prices spin off the charts.
One tank of vegetable oil will run a 1984 Mercedes for a good 300 miles, sputtering out less pollutants than regular gas or diesel, at a savings of about $50 a week, they estimated.

Its a shame when you have to make life decisions at the pump.
I drive 10 miles to and 10 miles from work and thankfully, I will be starting a new job soon that is Metro rail accessible.
