My husband is in construction and has to take drug tests before lots of jobs- the shop always asks the guys if they can pass (my husband is one of the few who can) and if not how long before they can get themselves cleaned out. The unwritten policy with his shop is if you are asked if you can pass and you fail you will be charged the cost of the test-- not fired, just put on a job that doesn't require a clean test! Their argument is the same- if we insisted on clean employees we wouldn't have any!
