I never learned how to drive a stick shift. I learned to drive in an automatic, and my mom and husband can't drive a stick shift (my dad used to be able to, but hasn't in about 40 years), so I just never learned. Put it in drive and forget about it!
I've always wanted to learn, though - if only so that I can buy a car that my husband, and future children, will never want to borrow b/c they won't be able to drive it
(My husband is all about automation. He makes fun of me because I won't use cruise control.)
The weird thing about my dad is that he got used to driving using 2 feet, so he still does. Only now, it's one foot for the gas, one for the brake. That really screwed me up when my driver's ed teacher wanted me to drive using only one foot...
