And some of us who did take chem, physics, calc, geochem, geophysics, etc., we got good grades by going to class and actually listening to the lecture - what a concept!!
Sadly to say, the physical science and engineering deparments at the majority of universities (both public and private) will not give credit for attending lectures. The courses are very difficult and require excessive work outside of class, often for a low grade at the end. As a math/computer science major who is interested in law school, I have experience in a multitude of disciplines. I've taken the "hardest" english class, as well as very intensive history classes, and while the classes weren't easy, the workload was not comparable to my math/science/computer science courses.

That isn't to say that it isn't possible to get good grades in engineering and math/hard science courses. Just that it takes more than attending class to get a B. Going to the class and listening to lectures is vital for success (and comprehension of the material), but it's going to take a lot more work to actually get a decent grade in the class.

Back to the actual topic, my pledge quarter was also my best quarter for grades so far . Although that also had to do with my courseload (it was my first quarter, so I only took three classes), and the fact that the courses I was taking came easy to me.
