saetex,

Don't let some of the people on this thread get your dander up. The majority of the ones questioning your understanding are jealous of 2 facts:

1) You come from a state with an immense amount of pride. There is a distinct faction on this site that resents anything Texan and will go out of their ways to denigrate any and everything from the Lone Star State.

2) You attended a university whose Greek system is looked upon as "true" Greek Life. i.e. huge sorority/fraternity houses, chapters over 150-200 members, huge social events these people could only dream of. Most of your detractors, and the majority of GC regulars for that fact, attended schools with Greek Life akin to that of UTSA, WTAMU, etc.

Don't let them get you down.

That out of the way. What A&M is upset about is the marketing of the phrase "the 12th Man" by the Seahawks. This is what their trademark refers to. Any merchandise officially sold by the Seahawks with that phrase is in violation of the trademark rights held by A&M.

I've heard that there is little to none of this merchandise out there. That doesn't bode well for the Aggies argument. And I do think I've read that their trademark specifcally refers to the marketing of intercollegiate material too

That being said, as a Texan and a true college football fan, I know that there is only ONE 12th Man, and that is the student body of the Texas A&M Aggies.
