well, first of all im not the OP of this thread but, I too am in a simaler situation, I am a Transfer Student to OKState and I should grad in 08, however I just turned 24 in Dec, I took a two yr break from my previous school, that had no Greek System. The reason for the break was my now former Band was offered a devolpment deal from capital records out of nashville. Once i got back home off the road I did the last fall semester at my previous school and transfered to OKState, for two reasons, 1.) Air Force ROTC. 2.) this school has the best Engineering Program in the state. Anyway, I have a few people around here that are in various frats, that know me from playing music. After reading this thread I think I will try rushing, so far everyone I have met that is part of a frat seems to be really cool, but i dont know how the idea of me rushing, would go over, but the way i see it is if I can make a fool out of my self playing music in front of 60,000 screaming ppl, then whats the big deal right...

You may disagree, but I would feel pretty uncomfortable having to pledge with guys that are 6 and 7 years younger than me, and it will be hard for you to have a close reltionship with them. I have seen this before.

Engineering - Mewbourne School of Engineering at OU is one of the best in the country, and the petroleum engineering and energy management departments are probobly THE best. OSU's program is probobly pretty good, but it would be nothing without Boone Pickens,

Just an FYI, US News and World Report isn't the final authority on school rankings; a lot depends on how much information the school provides, and some schools just don't choose to provide much info...

Or they choose to fashion the information in a fashion most favorable to them, leaving certain things out, only reporting the positives.

For instance, law school employment after 6 months rates are unreliable. You could be working flipping burgers at McDonalds and the school may count you as employed.

Exactly - now while this may not be a factor for the top schools (Ivy League, MIT, U. of Chicago, Williams, etc., which are at the top no matter how you slice it), it is a factor as you go through the rest of Tier 1 and into Tier 2.

You are a moron. I was referring specifically to Petroleum Engineering and Energy Management....should have clarified that. OU and UT are two of the top......and that is very well known. You can post a bunch of pathetic lists all you want....I see that other people think you are being ridiculous as well.


I guess it wouldn't make very much sense to have the best schools for petroleum engineering located in the heart of our country's oil and gas industry. maybe you'd like to argue that too? bring it on.

oh, and I just got my dad, who is in oil and gas, to send me the Gourman Report, which specifically ranks petroleum engineering schools. here you go smart guy.

well i wasnt meaning to start a big debate about what school is better nationally, but i am going to clarify my statement. 1. ) My exact major is Electrical and Computer Egr, very much a diff disipline from petro and chem egr, 2.) I said best in the STATE, not in the NATION.

Also I dont know maybe its just me, but age really doesnt make that big of deal with whom i can relate too or get along with, I have lots of friends that are somewhat older than I am, and some that are younger than I am. Personally I think it comes down to a maturity level, but again thats just me

It's not just you. Two of my closest friends as of right now are 20 and 29. I'm 24. I can't relate to most women my age for some reason. Fortunately, I can relate to most guys up until their mid 30's. I find it unusual that age itself should be a factor in friendship. A person's life experience will dictate how they behave, more than how long they have been on this earth.
