When I first saw my husband he was wearing light-colored tapered jeans, high-top tennis shoes, a waffle-knit long underwear type shirt and had a shaved head. I thought the face was cute but everything else, not so much (this was in 2000, btw). But he plied me with beer and the more we talked, the more I looked past the horrible clothes and got to know him (though the beer probably helped a little.)
By the time he called me again three days later, we talked for two hours on the phone. When I hung up, I knew he was the one I would marry. We've been together for 5.5 years, married for 2.5.
Thankfully, he's gotten *much* better at dressing (with a little help from me) and no longer shaves his head, which is good because he has the most gorgeous, thick, curly red hair (such a waste on a boy!).
