Parents Day was fun. The decorations made by all the houses were really beautiful! My Hubby and I were talking about the difference between schools like LSU and our Alma Mater U of Houston. It would have been nice to experience all that good old "school spirit", but it just didn't exist in the same way you see at the larger schools like UT A&M and all the others mentioned throughout GC. We didn't get to spend much time with her since she had an early date, but we figure she wil be home in a few weeks so no biggie. Watching the girls go by on their floats was fun as well. If you took the letters off the floats, in NO WAY could you distinguish one soro from another. They all looked alike because they all had a pretty broad diversity within their membership. I met some of sisters and pledges she talks about frequently and was so impressed. They are EXACTLY as she described them, confident, poised, charming-GREAT GIRLS! The parents were the same way. Very easy to talk to.
Many in her class are from Texas-not just NO and BR, and my husband knew a collegue from New Orleans.
Lots of speculation on who did the dirty deed, but they just carried on and tried their best. Great attitude about the entire situation.
Her Grades... Welllllll-I don't think she will be offered a membership to any honor society, but for the first sememster it is acceptable. Of course I wish they were higher, but I remember my own grades the first year. Back then, when college was cheap, I took my share of WP's (Withdraw Passing). She dropped SPANISH-LOL I did too! Thank goodness she started with 16 hours.
