I do agree that sometimes GLOs seem to get singled out for more attention to their partying than do non-Greeks. For instance, the Sunday, January 8, 2006 Richmond (Virginia)
Times Dispatch has an article ("Board member hosted formal") covering lawsuits, charges and countercharges, etc. resulting from a sorority party. It's woth noting that the story DOES mention that the sorority shut down the party early and sent people home (in busses, apparently). It also sounds like steps were taken to make sure that alcohol was served in compliance with state law. Nevertheless, reportedly things "got out of hand because of alcohol consumption and sexual activity."

I'm not sure that the problem with this paricular party was that it was hosted by a sorority, or that it was held at one of the homes of a member of the Board of William and Mary. The underlying problem may be current drinking practices -- "pre-partying" in particular -- that certainly aren't exclusive to Greek life.
I have to second the proposal that parents need to do their best to give their children (Greek or not) good values and positive advice on how to handle or get out of bad situations.
