who that "founder/CEO" was? The reason I ask is that General Mills mentions Betty Crocker on its corporate history web page, and indicates that it was a name made up in 1921 to respond to questions about cooking sent in by customers. At that time General Mills was still the Washburn-Crosby Company; the corporate name didn't become General Mills until 1928. Since the founders were men from the Washburn and Crosby families, was there a woman who was the "CEO" of Washburn-Crosby in 1921? Was she a Washburn? A Crosby? Or married to one?
