I was made aware that some of the Sigma Alpha chapters out there make paddles. I was wondering if any one had digital pictures of their paddles that I could share with my chapter. My chapter is considering doing them and a visual of what other chapters do would be helpful in that decision making process

hey, my chapter has at least one paddle exchange a year. I have a picture of our group the night of the exchange. We exchange and do a sisterly activity after a sisterhood meeting. It is very neat to do and I love displaying my paddle in my room! Feel free to contact me further about information.

At the Beta Chapter paddles are part of the MC period. Each MC has a paddle that they collect signatures from all of the actives on one side. This helps them get to know all of the active members better. Our paddles are very special to us because they are a sign of the journey we made through the MC period. For Alpha chapter, our paddles are also part of the MC process. They make and decorate them so each are something unique to remember your MC and Active membership by.

The front includes the MC's first name, quarter of initiation, our letters, a message from her big sis, signatures of all the officers, and signatures of all the actives in pin order.

The back includes signatures of the following: Dean of the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences; Department Chair of your particular major; SA Advisors; Presidents of the Ag Fraternities; and your MC Class Sisters.

For my chapter, Alpha Psi, each MC class creates a paddle, and then presents it at activation. It's a fun low-stress bonding activity for the MC's. We have a few stipulations, but it's pretty open to their imagination.
