I'm facing a very difficult situation at work, and I need advice... plus I need to vent.
A couple of months ago, I started a new job. It's a fantastic opportunity at a great company. Just one problem: My team lead is an asshole. He treats me like shit. Among other things, he's called me a liar and accused me of not asking other team members for help when, in fact, I did.
At this point, things have gotten so bad that I become physically ill at the thought of dealing with him.
Everyone else in the department thinks this guy walks on water.
He wasn't even supposed to be my team lead, originally. I was supposed to be on a different team, but it happened that that manager was out of the office on the day I started, so I was put on this other team at the last minute.
I have already complained about him once to our boss, and the resolution was that we would both try to continue to work together and work through the problems. Yet I am still treated like crap. I've contacted the boss by email (he is out of the country until after Jan. 1) and indicated that I want to talk to him again and transfer to another team.
It is possible that he is treating me badly because I am a woman. However, a sex discrimination charge would be impossible to prove, as I am the only woman on the team and one of only a handful of women in the department.
I really want to stay at this company, but I can't work with this individual. What else can I do to improve the situation? How can I get through the next week and a half until the boss comes back? What can I say to him that will get me transferred to another team and not fired?
