That's the thing about Junior League in the South than anywhere else (from what I can tell). JL here in Ann Arbor isn't all that bad. You don't have to be sponsored per se, but attend meetings. They have a membership 'drive' in the fall. You have to attend a certain number of meetings, etc. I don't know what the dues are, though. This is something that I looked into as well when I moved down here (get involved, meet new people, do charity work, etc). Because of my class schedule, however, I wasn't going to be able to make any of the meetings. I would say to definitely check it out - I can't remember what the Junior League's web address is, though. I do recall there is a map and directory, though. =)
