Sapphire Sister
I have the coolest Sapphire Sister (ie- "big' sister)- and I wanted to know if any of you have any ideas about how I can show her just how glad I am she's my big. She's really so awesome.

I think the coolest way to show her how glad you are is to make her something. I've decorated picture frames, picture boxes, baskets....all sorts of stuff. If you're creative it makes it fun for you and you'll love the reaction you get from your big sis. It always means more when you make them a gift instead of just buying them something.
Hope this helps a little bit.

There is a beautiful little book, gold cover, called Apples of Gold. It is filled with quotes about friendship, love and forgiveness. It's relatively inexpensive and would make a good Christmas gift. Or, if you have a bit more spare change, give it to her for Thanksgiving as in I'm so thankful you're my "Big".

I STILL have a great relationship with my big- and I am alum now! After C-H-I-O week, I sent her flowers and a sweet card to show her how much I appreciated everything she did during Big/Lil Week.
I would also make her little presents out of the blue, picture frames, cookies, etc. Anything to just show her I cared!

I STILL have a great rela with my big too--and we're celebrating (?) our 10 year college reunion this year! Yikes! ha ha
Leave cute little notes for her, decorate picture frames, all the things that have been mentioned above. Just let her know how you feel, she will love that!

For our chapter making paddles for our big sis is a tradition, you put both your names on it, symbols, etc. Sometimes its not a paddles, its a stool, plaque, anything you can decorate, even pillows. Personally I am hoping for a paddle from my lil, but I love her so much it really doesn't matter.
PS be ready to spend some money though it can cost a pretty penny, but its way cute

I gave my big little gifts and also gave her a card in which I wrote her a note telling her what a wonderful big she was and how I appreciated everything she did for me. I would also print cute little friendship or sisterhood poems and frame those for her. She loved them. I think she actually liked the card the most because it caught her off guard and she actually cried when I gave it to her.

One of my hobbies is cross stitch. When my local sorority went national, I made up a cross stitch design with AEPhi's letters, my school name, and a lily of the valley. I stitched two - one for me and one for my big (from the local).
When I got a little the following year, I meant to stitch one up for her too, but never got around to it.
Something original and from the heart is best.
