It didn't necessarily almost kill me, but...
I was playing in a summer league game while in high school, and was facing a guy who had hit me in the head with a pitch earlier in the season. The pitch had knocked me out for a couple of seconds, so I wasn't all that happy about it. I'm not a cocky guy, but I made a comment before the game that I hoped I'd hit a line drive back up the middle when I got up to the plate.
Turns out he heard that little comment, and threw at my head AGAIN on the first pitch. This time he missed, but that was the first and last time I talked trash to an opposing pitcher. In high school the guys threw hard enough to do serious damage, and I wasn't really in the mood for any concussions (or worse).
