If you live in an area that has a Meijer store, there is a radio commercial that reminded me of this thread.

There is a suburban Caucasian couple proposing names for their firstborn daughter:

Husband: Why don't we call her Sony?
Wife: Oh, that's sweet, like your grandmother Sunny?
Husband: No, Sony, like in the electronics.
Wife (stunned): No, you can't name a baby Sony, no....absolutely not!
Husband, OK, how about Toshiba, and we can call her Toby for short?
Wife: No.
Husband: How about Sylvania?
Wife: No.
Husband: Panasonic?
Wife: No.
Husband: JVC?
Wife: NO! Next thing you know, you'll want to call her Magnavox.
Husband: Don't be silly, that's a boy's name.

*Voiceover announcer proclaims Meijer has the best selection of electronics, etc., etc...*

I am sure that more than a few pregnant and soon-to-be parents listening to this commercial were taking notes.
