I pronounce it both ways. WHY, I don't know.

Another pronunciation that annoys me is cement (SEE-ment versus ce-MENT). That's mostly Southerners that do that though.

Or, oil: 'OL versus OY-el.

I thought I was the only one who is annoyed by this
