I thought some trivia questions would be a good way to liven up this forum. I guess any questions regarding Beta history and lore would be appropriate. First question:
What is the second longest Beta chapter in continual existence?

I think its Depauw... but Im not sure... I know it was up until 1990, but I dont know about since

i am not sure of the answer myself. it would be cool if it was Depauw since they are the Delta chapter, however betathetapi.org lists their current status as suspended, not sure if this is accurate tho.

the first 9 chapters following Miami were:
Cincinnati, Beta Nu 4/8/1840
Western Reserve, Beta 8/9/1841
Ohio, Beta Kappa 11/9/1841
Transylvania, Epsilon 1/31/1842
Washington & Jefferson, Gamma 6/1/1842
Harvard, Eta 9/5/1843
Princeton, Theta Epsilon 11/7/1843
De Pauw, Delta 4/23/1845
Indiana, Pi 8/27/1845

Cincinnati was inactived in 1843 and then again WAY more recent

Western Reserve was inactivated in 1868

Ohio was inactivated in 1847

Transylvania was inactivated in 1847

Harvard was in activated in 1844 and 1879

Princeton was inactivated in 1846

Indiana was in 1849 and more recently

which is why its Depauw and then Hanover!!! unless one of them were inactive much recently which is highly possible

Right, but Michigan was inactivated in 1851

Wabash inactive 1849
Centre College inactive 1862
Hampden-Sydney inactive 1861
North Carolina inactive 1861

so its depauw or hanover

Do you guys recall the whole Lambda Chapter mess back in the mid 1800's? I believe the whole chapter decided to go Delta Psi (I could be wrong), except one brother. This sole brother revamped Lambda and kept them going.

It's a little rusty in my memory, but it's GREAT reading. Check it out, I believe it's in the Faithful Home of the Three Stars - decent sized red book, more than likely in your chapters Library. If you have it, read it. It's more informative than any other Beta book, including your pledge manual.

It was Psi Upsilon. The Michigan story is well worth re-telling, and reading to your chapter - and to your pledges.

Yes, the michigan story is a good story, its in the son of stars, so it should all pledge programs

as far as Centre and UNC being inactive in 1860's remember the rebillion was going on at that time. Most of the male students were off fighting for country.
