Well... I've always said that the only tattoo I'd get would be permenant makeup, but that was before I read & better understood the passage in Leviticus. Although the thought of waking up without having whitish lips is VERY appealing!

I don't know anyone who regrets their tattoo within a few years of getting it, but I've known dozens who regret them later. Many "white collar" jobs don't mind them if they can't be seen, but who wants to wear a band aid every day? My job includes interviewing (both nurses & clients), and whether people want to hear it or not, many older people have serious prejudices against someone with noticable tattoos.

Religion aside, a small tattoo on an ankle or back IF ONE WANTS IT isn't a big deal - but once you start thinking about the large ones, or tattoos that are easily visible while dressed for work, you're just limiting yourself in the workforce. No one savvy will say, "You're fired because you have barbed wire tattooed on your forehead which we didn't see before because you wore bangs," but they will find a reason.

I guess I'm saying that the cute violet or shamrock or star on your ankle is one thing; a panther across your neck (which has happened to us!!) is quite another.
