I agree about SWA not being any big savings. I happen to know the cheapest person on two feet (actually, two of them - they should do us all a favor & get married!), and he keeps saying how cheap SWA is.
Then, on the same weekend, he was flying to Pittsburgh, and I was flying to Chicago - his hometown. He bragged and bragged about the fare he was getting - until I got one $10 less. He had a layover, and I flew nonstop, during premium hours. I keep telling him, it's all a matter of timing and knowing your market, but I guess he likes the cattle call approach...
BTW, I fly USAirways whenever possible, due to the amount of people I know who work there. Not that they can get me a discount, but I use my money to support the local economy.
