favorite lemonade

Hey.. I'm not sure if you happen to have Goodflow juices available where you are from (I think it's a regional Texas company).. if you do, you know they make all kinds of fresh squeezed juices. Their plain lemon juice is a great base for making lemonade. If you start with that as a base, add 2 cups of granulated sugar (I've never experimented with Splenda) & 2 cups of water. Taste, then keep adding water til you reach a point that you like. If you dice strawberries, kiwi, & canteloupe.. you can use that mix as a garnish & it will add a lot of flavor to the drink (as well as look pretty). It floats on the surface with the ice. You know the lemonade has passed its prime when the fruit becomes saturated & sinks to the bottom (it's best to keep it overnight without the fruit in there.. but just FYI the fruit will usually sink after 1 1/2 --> 2 days). It's OK if the fruit gives it a pinky color. One of my favorites to make in the summer : )

If you don't have Goodflow.. first take a look near the fish section, your grocery store may produce its own 100% lemon juice as a cooking aid. If not, use any of the concentrated lemon juices. These are in glass jars in the juice isle instead of a refrigerated section. Try to pick one that is purely from fruit; the others can be too tart. If you can only find juices from concentrate, take it easy on the sugar & squeeze some fresh lemon in to add back the pure flavor.

If you have a ton of people coming through.. just multiply the amounts & mix to your liking. Start small; it's easier to find the right portions for 1 small batch & then make a larger amount. Serve out of a punch bowl (so no one gets a glass of fruit salad from the top of a pitcher.. lol) & enjoy.
