See thats what sucks with these things. Intensity forecasts are the hardest part of hurricane prediction. Track prediction is more accurate. CNN is reporting an anticipated landfall at Cat 3. The lack in ability to accurately predict intensity is what worries me tho. Example - Hurricane Charley last year. It went from a Cat 1 to a Cat 4 in a twleve hour time period immediately before landfall. 6 hours before landfall when it was apparent that it was rapidly intesifiying was too late to evacuate or begin/complete preparedness plans.
Unless the thing continues to curve down the coast and head towards Corpus, were not takign any chances. As the forcast map now reads, the slighest wobble (and they do wobble, like a top) woudl put it over the family's house.
Family does seem to be a bit more relaxed today. I think having aplan makes all the difference.
