I think this is so true. I was talking to one of my friends who had fought in Iraq about the situation with Katrina -- he is convinced that the fact that our troops are spread so thin over there is one of the reasons that we couldn't restore order faster in New Orleans. I wouldn't be surprised if this were true for things other than our soldiers as well.

Add me to the list of people who has never understood the Bush appeal (as a person, sure, maybe, but as a president?) -- but that's not really a surprise to anyone at this point.
