Kent State AXiD Memorial Pictures/Stories

Hi Everyone....I'm looking for a little assistance from some Alpha Xi alumnae.

At Convention an Altanta alumna met a Kent State alumna who was on the campus during the political unrest when her chapter sister was killed in the violence. The Kent alumna never went back to the university after that dreadful event and from my understand it has left a hole of sorts in her history there.

I had a conversation with the ATL alum (UGA sister) before convention of the political unrest on college campuses (since I love history and all) and this topic came up as well. I mentioned pictures I thought I had seen on Greek Chat of candle vigils and sidewalk chalkings done on Kent's campus by current AZD sisters done in honor of the sister who was killed. I also had told her about the curio in the chapter house with the sisters quill and other items. The Kent alumna was completely shocked and unaware that this even took place....and from what I could tell from my conversation with the ATL alum, she received a sense of peace from hearing the story.

I'd hate to think that sisters are still out there with unresolved emotions or that they are unaware of how their chapter celebrates the life that was lost on Kent's campus. Obviously there are many unresolved feelings!!!

So, at the request of the ATL alumna, I have looked for these pictures again and have hit a dead end. I also looked for Beta Tau's website, but they don't have one. Does anyone have or know where any pictures are? Or do you have any stories that I can pass along to my ATL alum contact? I am pretty certain she is still in contact with the Kent sister and she said any information I could find would be appreciated.

Hope somebody can give me a hand!!!
Thanks
-Patsy

I remember seeing these pictures online somewhere earlier on in my membership. Somewhat recently, probably no more that 6-8 months ago. I will look around at some sites and see what I can do. (I'm a bit of a computer nerd )

I found information about it by putting the Kent woman's name into google - but I can't remember her name right now. Look at the University site - they may also have something on it there since it's such a big part of their history.

Sandy Scheuer.

Or at least I think that's how it's spelled.

Here are a few...You can make out TFJ, and other AXiD paraphenalia, etc in a couple of places. One Two Three (Night time) Little Girls
Here's a Link to a speech about May 4, it mentions AXiD specifically. Speech
I'm sure I could find more, but that was a pretty quick, not indepth search.

It's so tragic.

I had never heard about this (or even the Kent State shootings!) until a sister I had met from the Kent State chapter mentioned the Kent State shootings in passing and how they have Sandy's stuff on display at the house. I didn't know what she was talking about, and I couldn't remember the name of the sister, so one afternoon I googled "Kent State shootings" and got quite a history lesson.

Thank you, Patsy, for bringing up this topic. I think it's something all Alpha Xis should know about.
