because of being the JD Salinger fan that I am, I ponder whether the chicken, like Holden, felt he was disappearing everytime he decided to cross one of these proverbial "roads" we speak of. I bet if he did, he wouldn't cross too many roads. Also, if he stopped in the middle of the road to decide whether or not he should continue to cross the road since he was disappearing, he was probably hit by a car. poor guy.
