Not a product, but a service (or lack thereof): The Ritz-Carlton, Boston.
My husband (then-fiance) and I were attending the wedding of two friends of ours.
The Ritz-Carlton has always been very careful about not serving anyone who is underage. (This is not a bad thing.) So they were carding everyone in sight. Waiters walking around with trays of champagne flutes during the cocktail hour wouldn't let you take one without seeing ID.
When we were seated for dinner, the bride and groom's college friends (including us) were seated at two tables. Champagne was poured for everyone EXCEPT those of us at these two tables. They didn't even bother to card us, they just assumed we were all underage.

So my husband called someone over and asked for some champagne. The waiter asked him for ID, examined it carefully, took it over to the bartender, had him examine it, then brought it back, poured him some champagne, AND LEFT. I called him back and told him I'd like some champagne too. The operation was repeated with my ID. We both had perfectly valid, in-state, Massachusetts driver's licenses at the time. Only then did waiters approach both tables, offering champagne and carding each and every person who said yes.
The maid of honor (who was underage) had to offer her toast to the bride and groom with
an empty glass.
Plus, the waiters were just rude throughout. I think they were annoyed that they couldn't refuse to serve us.
I wrote a scathing letter of complaint, detailing what happened and adding that I was a bride planning my own wedding and I would NOT be booking it at the Ritz-Carlton. You could take paint off cars with what I wrote. I got an apologetic response indicating that the staff had been spoken to. Nonetheless, I haven't so much as set foot there since.
