I would definately not say that the WHOLE reason women are refered to as bitches and hoes is because of hip-hop, but I would definately say that it has SOMETHING to do with it. There is no doubt about it in my mind.
I would guess that the girl who originally said that wasn't trying to place the blame only on hip-hop either. But I wasn't there so I could be wrong.
I think most of today's rap music is terrible. I am disgusted by 50-cent and won't listen to him anymore.
I do think that musicians as popular as rap artists are should stop and think about the effect that they are having on today's youth. They might want to pretend that kids don't try to emmulate them, but they truly do. And glorifying money and drugs, and disrespecting women is not a good model to show these kids.
And almost certainly someone will come up with the arguement of "if parents don't want their kids to listen to rap, then they shouldn't let them." Personally, I think that arguement is crap. My parents were very strict when I was growing up and wouldn't let me listen to rap.... But I still found ways to do it. Kids will find a way.
