You know the good thing about a school like JSU is that a sophomore should have no problem receiving a bid. If it is anything like UNA, sophomores are actually look upon as a positive, with your college grades already known the sororities know that you are actually in college for an education.
HAVE A GREAT TIME. And don't forget to tell that sorority that offered you a bid the story about your funds and that you are still interested in enjoying formal recruitment with them in mind. (in your own word of course.)

A similar thing happened to one of my sorority sisters. She went through open rush and didn't accept a bid then went through formal rush and accepted a bid from us then. (I think she just wanted the full sorority experience with formal rush and all)

I will pick the DOG's (seeing as how "I don't have a dog in your race") and I don't want the DOG sorority to get a complex. So, here is my Dog rush song . . . .

 D - O - G
we are the sisters of dog sorority
we want to sing hello to you
we want to sing hello to you
we want to sing hello to you.
 D - - - - - O - - - - -G

 (Wow that was funny)

I have noticed that my picking "dogs" as one of my names for the sororities has gotten some great discussion. But just to let everyone know, I picked each animal because I have one (at least) of each animal. That should make everyone at ease, some.
About the sorority who offered me a bid through the open house, I have talked to a few of their sisters, right after it happened, about the whole situation and they all seemed to understand where I was coming from. They were and still are some great girls, but just because I have recieved a bid from them in the past doesn't mean I am going into formal recruitment thinking "Oh, I'm going to get a bid from XYZ so I don't care what the others sororities have to say." I am going into this with an open-mind, as if the open house thing never happened. And besides, if I did just go in there with the attuide of "oh I already know I have a bid coming to me from XYZ," I could end up not getting one from them at all. I'm opening up the meadows, each sorority has a equal chance to graize on the meadows. (WOW, what was that? I think a tad too much of the south, lol)

 | You're right about JSU sororities looking upon sophomores positively. I joined my org as a sophomore, and it was never a factor. It's always good to have some kind of idea of how PNMs' grades will be in college.

Also, my chapter had a recruitment workshop this weekend, and our CCD told us that so far only about 40 girls have signed up for recruitment at last count. So I have my fingers crossed that more people will sign up! Of course, we hear rumors like that every year, and at the last minute, a whole bunch of girls sign up. Usually, somewhere around 70-100 girls go through.

Rush is just one week away. Today, I got a package containing information about rush. It basically just stated the do's and dont's, a little information about each round, and a quick summary of each chapter, oh how could I forget about the Greek Glossary. I have decided what I want to wear about four different times, but I think what I have picked out this time is final! I'm so cited about it. I'm, also, beginning to feel a tad nervous--I don't know why, I mean, I have went through it somewhat with the Open House.

Dixiegirl15 (I just love your name!), just keep in mind that being nervous is NORMAL! The sorority members are just as nervous, hoping to impress y'all. If you get so nervous that you can't eat, try keeping some saltines or something around so that your tummy doesn't rumble at the wrong time!

EtaPhiZTA - we have talk about our Bichons someday! Buffy actually got an email last week, inviting him to a "Bichon Bash"! The proceeds go to Small Paws Rescue.

Bumpity bump! Rush starts at JSU in only one week! I'll be moving up on Friday, and I didn't know how long I'd have my computer up at my house, so I wanted to post one last "good luck" to your thread. Silence starts on Friday, of course, so this will be this last time I post, but I will be sending good vibes your way all through rush. All the sororities at JSU have something wonderful to offer all PNMs, so keep an open mind, wear comfortable shoes, and have fun. Good luck in finding your home, girl!

I move into the dorms in the morning so the actually process of rush can start. I need to be asleep right now, but I can't my mind keeps wondering off and its not heading in the direction of "mr. sandman." I'm excited about moving back in and rush starting yet I'm beginning to think "should I even be doing this?" I guess its just me having doubts about a decision that is going to be life-changing...in a good way, if I find a home. Tomorrow night is when orienation is going to be. I'll update after it, of course.

Well, I just got back in. It was ok. The girls were really funny, although I don't know if they were meaning to be funny, oh well. My day starts tomorrow at 2.

Good luck Dixiegirl15! As someone said in another thread, the sisters are just as nervous as the PNM. Hope you find what you are looking for.
