that was very interesting to note. i had no idea (of course i don't spend lots of time trying to order greek merchandise online)!

Using my coffee cup is not a necessity (I have a problem with anyone using one of my special coffee cups--this extends beyond just AKA mug).

and i agree with this...mainly because if someone else is using it and it breaks...i will be upset. at least if i break it, i have no one else to be mad at! hehehe...and my special coffee mug has this lattice design with pastel colored hearts and in no way reflects phi mu.
as far as wearing letters/pin of a fraternity- as a woman who is extremely independent, i wore my ex-bf's letters. it was a very sweet gesture on his part that he gave them to me. once he gave them to me, he invited a bunch of his brothers into the room and they all hugged me and congratulated me because they knew it was important to my ex-bf. it was something that was also a big deal on our campus.
i guess i have always considered things like pens, pencils, cups, etc. to be more like tools for PR. heck, even medications have pens imprinted with their names, and it is all for the idea of spreading the word. it is my understanding (although i don't have confirmation) that when npc orgs are presenting at a campus, they give away things like pens and pencils.
either way, i still firmly believe that we as greeks have bigger fish to fry.
