I have lots of comments on weddings. Here it goes:

Relatives Hosting Showers: I have always been raised that this is a big no-no! To me it seems like, hey we just want you to give my daughter/sister/cousin/niece more presents.

Dollar Dance: Ugh! I am from an area where this is a very common practice. To me, the wedding reception was a time to have fun and thank your guests for helping you celebrate such a great wonderful occasion, not a time to ask for more gifts. The people at my reception were my guests.

In General: I got married in a Methodist church. Nice 30 minute ceremony, that's with two vocalists. That was the only focus I wanted on Mr. lonestar and me. Our guests went to the reception site while we took pictures. Once the guests went to the reception, they were able to eat, drink and be merry without waiting on us. We got to the reception and didn't want the attention on us anymore. We didn't have a first dance or dance with our parents. We didn't do toasts. We did cut our cakes. We wanted to thank our guests for coming to our celebration. We wanted them to be comfortable and enjoy the party. We were able to meet and talk to every guest b/c we weren't doing all of that formal crap. Another idea that worked, we had a buffet style meal, but we had several stations of food. None of our guests had to stand in line for food ever, now the bar was a different story. I hate standing in long buffet lines for food!! My dad had several of his friends come up to his and thank him for the best party they had been to in years. Mission accomplished! Plus, I Mr. lonestar and I had a fabulous time! Just my HO!
